In Depth Bio
Founder of Teleios Consulting, Lorin obtained his MBA with a 4.0 from Texas State University and received High Honors in his Harvard Business School Online CORe program which focuses on Business Analytics and Economics for Managers. During his time in the Texas State MBA program, Lorin simultaneously obtained his accounting education to sit for the CPA exam, passed all four parts of the CPA exam on his first attempt (less than 10% do this), all while working to help 8 x revenue ($200,000 to over $1.6 million in revenue) at the start-up he was working at (in addition to helping non-profits expand their missions). At this start-up Lorin was in charge of mapping out processes and work-flows then developing strategies to make them more profitable and efficient. This included in-house operational efficiency as well as online website analytics.
During his studies at Texas State, Lorin had various consulting projects including consulting the largest organic winery in the world, Emiliana Organic Vineyards, based in Chile, on expansion into different global markets as well as helping to facilitate the merger of two non-profits who helped children from abused homes.
Also while at Texas State, Lorin was awarded the prestigious “Future Texas Business Legend” scholarship rewarded annually to top MBA students in Texas who exhibit exceptional entrepreneurship acumen and are leaders in their respective communities. This was based on Lorin starting and growing his own small fitness business that donated a part of its revenues to bring 300 pairs of shoes to children at the St. Etienne School in Haiti, from ideation to 300+ active members at its peak.
After grad school, Lorin had a stint at the prestigious Ernst and Young Big 4 Accounting Firm (less than 1% of applicants get jobs), during which he quickly realized that his passion lied in not helping large corporations, but with helping small businesses and individuals have access to similar services to help them thrive. After a few years working at a public accounting firm that helps small businesses with accounting services, Lorin decided to start Teleios to better address the pain points and needs he saw in the small business world - lack of accurate, timely accounting data, a lack of data driven decision making, a lack of sound strategy, structures, processes, procedures, and a lack of knowing the rules of the business game we all play (including tax rules). Also, just a lack of empathy in an usual emotionless industry - business consulting and tax advisory.
Since then, Lorin has consulted gyms, personal trainers, massage therapists, Doctors of Chiropractic, Doctors of Physical Therapy, outdoor retail stores, and churches on how to expand their reach - including but not limited too creating additional revenue streams for each client.
When not working, Lorin loves to run marathons and ultramarathons, practice jiu jitsu, shoot his compound bow, mountain bike, rock climb, travel, read, and get involved in the community with his Church Family.
